Legendary actor and comedian Robin Williams died this morning at his house in Marin County, California. The Marin County Sherrif’s is investigating the circumstances of his death, but they suspect the cause was suicide by asphyxiation.

He had a history of substance abuse and addiction, and had been struggling with severe depression. He was candid about his continuing battle to maintain sobriety.

His wife also released a statement earlier today: “This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken.”

Williams is also survived by three children.

Here are two clips to remember him by, the second being one of the most memorable scenes from Good Will Hunting, filmed right here at the Public Garden in Boston.
