Remembering The Other 9/11: US-Supported Coup in Chile on September 9, 1973

By David Bloch | 09/11/2014

From Democracy Now! and Wikipedia:

“41 years ago today President Nixon and Secretary of State National Security Advisor, Henry Kissinger helped orchestrate the coup that put General Augusto Pinochet in power and President Allende dead. Pinochet would go on to rule Chile for the next next 17 years.”

“The regime was characterized by the systematic suppression of political parties and the persecution of dissidents to an extent that was unprecedented in the history of Chile. Over-all, the regime left over 3,000 dead or missing and forced 200,000 Chileans into exile.”
